Awesome Aviator Awarded on 2/27/2008 for the First Flight of the RV8

Jeep Larson "Chapter VP" building a RV8 (not a kit)

2/1/2008

It is finally complete after 2-1/2 years and too many hours to count. My EAA tech adviser signed off on it and we did the weight and balance.  Came in at 1111 lbs empty weight - just about where it should be, max gross weight will be 1850 lbs.  Hope to have the FAA inspection in about a week and then plan the 1st flight.

Ready for DAR inspection

A brief summary of progress made on my RV 8 ( the " Strait Eight" ).  I picked up the 1st kit in September 2005. 645 hours later, the empennage is complete and was inspected by my tech adviser, Jim Cone.  Since then, the fuel tanks are complete; the wings, flaps and ailerons are 90% complete and should be ready for inspection in a week or so. Things are going together nicely. (Click on pictures for a larger view)
